Summary
The House Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, held a hearing and heard testimony from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on global food security. In her opening remarks, Representative Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT, 3rd), Subcommittee Chair, discussed the importance of food security not only in terms of improving health, but also for U.S. national security and expressed concern about funding levels for U.S. food assistance programs in the FY 2011 budget request.
